Message I saw this was discussed a few weeks ago so I thought I would post my findings here:

I've wanted to get a stud removal tool for awhile now. Since I'm starting to tear apart my old enigne and put together my new one, I figured it was a good time to finally get one. So I went to Sears to get the common one I've seen before. Basically this style:

Well of course they were out so I went home and jumped on ebay to see what I could find. I found this set and ended up buying it.

It's the other style that was discussed in the thread and I actually find it works easier. Basically you put it over the stud and turn. There are rollers inside that grip and tighten as you turn the socket. The tighter you turn, the tighter it grips. They work for installing and removing. The kit I bought comes with 4 different sizes as you can see. So you are pretty covered for different size studs. I've only used 2 of the sizes so far on the Z. For the price it was a great buy. I added some pics of what I've used it on. So far I've played with head studs, the idler pulley studs, the tming belt tensioner stud, manifold turbo mounting studs, turbo down pipe studs, lower plenum mounting studs, etc. Endless uses. So far they have worked great.
